Naturally, you have been drawn to using adult scissors for years now.

I simply taught you how to use them.
We have been teaching you about tools, how they're used,
when they aren't safe and more.

Then, this past week, you said for the first time ever, "I want to make a book!"

Cahlo + Puzzles

We are so blessed to lead lives filled with community. So often, we are handed-down other
people's gently used toys, books, clothes and more. You have been doing puzzles since you were 2 years old. This 'Iron Man' one has been a favorite for the past years.

Observing the Life Cycle of a Monarch Caterpillar into a Butterfly

SUMMER 2018!
We witnessed four caterpillars build their chrysalises around them and then eclose into Monarch butterflies over the past month plus.
So much of what I am experiencing with you, buddy, was not anything that I experienced with my own parents.
I hope one day you appreciate the values that we are raising you with.
In a world addicted to so much death, We choose to focus on LIFE and what is ALIVE & LIVING with you.

You have been dressing yourself for about two years now. You have a preference for athletic clothes. I was not pushing a gendered agenda on you. In fact, I was open to your being fluid. Yet, you show a clear preference for typical "boy" everything. ;)

One of your first words was 'moon,' as I would walk you around our apartment complex up to 5x/day during your first year of life. When the moon would rise from the east, I would point it out. By 8 months old, you were pointing to it and saying, "moon."

At just over two years old, I sat you down in the kitchen of our new house and asked you if you wanted to know what your full name was. When I told you, "Cahlo Re Moon," your eyes sparkled with pride and deep knowing. You are a child of the Moon.

When ever you feel down, just lift your voice and sing.
It is one of the quickest balms for soothing a Soul.

A Unique Sense of Style

You came out with as someone who wants to go and do things, now.
You couldn't yet call but you were pushing out of my arms to go play with the kids
on the schoolyard.
You couldn't yet walk but you would push yourself to standing and try to run towards
the wave.
We have always tried to honor this aspect of your personality.

You teach yourself so much, so often. We just try to provide you with the tools and the means - including environments and other people - to learn with.
