Our first year in Ecuador. We landed in Cuenca and took the bus to Vilca. Cee started kindergarden (inicial) at a private, Waldorf-inspired school called La Calandria not long after we landed. We lived in Joy's apartment the first two months before moving into our own casita near the river. We went on our last family adventure, a river trip up a tributary of the eastern Amazon River in November. It was obvious - to me - that Burt's cancer had returned. By December, he was re-diagnosed and was treating himself holisitcally this time around.
