the rain is falling down,
washing away,
all of the grime and the stink
of a path that no longer serves,
taking with it the shame and the guilt
of our old selves - the one's who betray us
with their actions, time and time again,
the tears are being shed,
releasing pattern & habit,
cleansing our palatte,
and absolving us
of the gifts that we haven't been showing up for,
this present, here and now,
a dry, parched Earth is being rinsed,
as these streets of San Diego run like wild rivers
and my heart absorbs the moisture,
fat rivulets of compassion
reverberate in my chest
forgiveness feeds my hungry nature,
a blank slate now wiped clean,
you are free to wander and sing
the song you were brought forth to share,
as I willingly flow,
dancing in the current,
swaying to the beat,
keeping time with one foot in our technologies
and the other knee-deep in mud and brick,
root and rock,
in the memory of all that once was
yet is no more
a sweet reprieve
just in the nick of time
we are
absolved.
